Description

A rare and beautiful Japanese Some - tsuke (blue and white)  Hirado porcelain dish modelled in the form of an open lotus leaf with detailed veining and realistic turned leaf edges.
 
Finely decorated in under glaze blue and elegantly depicting a heron in flight swooping toward another heron concealed amongst flora and fauna, on the ground. The reverse of the dish continues the theme and features a further heron in flight and is signed by the Artist in under glaze blue within the foot rim.
 
Made during the early part of the 19th century (notice the un glazed foot rim), this delightful dish, probably one of a set of five, was intended for serving delicacies.
 
Measurements:
 
8ins (20.5 cms) by 7.5 ins (19 cms).
 
Condition:
 
Excellent for the age with no damage loss or restoration..
