Description


A top quality finely decorated and elegant slender shaped Hirado Some-tsuke vase with elephant handles featuring a sheltering mandarin duck with young amongst peonies,chrysanthemums,water lilies, reeds and leaves in a continuous scene above a key and scrolling patterned border.

Profusely signed in under glaze blue and attributed on the base and enjoying a high quality of the painting ,control of shading and tone atributed to a master decorator painter such as Imamura Rokuro and manufactured at the Mikawachi Kilns, Hirado c1860.

A fine collectors item ln excellent condition with only a small loss to the inner foot rim as shown.
