Description


A finely decorated mirrored pair of Meiji Period Arita Aoki porcelain  Imari Vases of bulbous form with moulded raised ring handles, c1900.

Each bearing the
Aoki, Porcelain made in Arita mark.

Full name: Aoki Kyodai-Shokai (Aoki Brothers Company) or Dainippon Hizen Arita Aoki-sei. The Aoki Kyodai-Shokai was founded in the 1890's by Aoki Jinichiro (1863-1955).


In excellent condition and beautifully all over hand painted in the typical Imari palette incorporating large mirrored reserves featuring swirling dragons in flight amongst stylised clouds and large shaped reserves dislaying flora and fauna with further fan shaped edges, all highlighted in gold.

No loss, damage or restoration apart from one, hardly noticeable, very  tiny rim frit to one vase and general minor rubbing as expected of vases of this type and age.
