Description

Part of a Private Collection an interesting and unusual regular pentagon shaped Meiji period, c1890 Japanese Banko Yaki teapot with lid and inner strainer of good quality and in excellent condition for it's age save for a slight rim loss as shown in the photos.

Finely hand decorated and moulded with raised enamelled Kiku heads on entwinning stems and bird in flight patterns set amongst a reed grass base all on a rough textured biscuit grey coloured pottery with the artists finger print impressions to the rippled base together with impressed seal marks.
