Superb Meiji Period Satsuma Koro with pierced domed cover & hand painted scene depicting an Important Samurai Procession - signed Kyozan
 
In pristine overall condition this exceptional hand painted Satsuma Koro with pierced domed cover, finial top and scrolled handles features an important continuous Samurai Procession with banners and flags, escorting and carrying, in a Palanquin, the legendary Emperor Ojin deified as Hachman Daimyojin (God of War) and regarded as the guardian of the Samurai Warrior.
 
Stylised interwoven multi coloured designs to the top rim with pierced matching domed cover with gold finial, scrolled handles with gold highlights and geometric designs enhance and complete the aesthetic of this masterful piece.
 
Raised on three legs with further gold highlights, this wonderful Satsuma Koro (Incense burner) is of the highest order and in exceptional condition with no loss, repair or damage and would be a welcome addition to any worthwhile and important Satsuma collection.
