MOST UNUSUAL AND VERY RARE JAPANESE PORCELAIN SOMETSUKE HIRADO SPICE DISH IN THE FORM OF AN ONI MONO NOH THEATRE MASK, C1850.
 
Finely modelled in the form of an Oni Noh theatre mask on the one side and delicately decorated with under glaze rich blue fauna to the inside of the dish, all set off against the typical and unmistakeable Hirado white background hue.
 
See how the horns and chin of the Oni mask perfectly form the base to the spice dish when turned over.
 
In over 30years of dealing we have only ever seen one other example but never one in such good condition.
 
THIS VERY RARE ITEM IS IN NEAR PERFECT PRISTINE CONDITION WITH NO DAMAGE OR RESTORATION
